eventframework was asked to manage the first ever Cary Grant Lecture, which was given by Lord David Puttnam, producer of Chariots of Fire, The Mission and Local Hero.

During his speech, Lord Puttnam, who was head of Columbia Pictures in the late 1980s and who has ties with Bristol from his time as a visiting lecturer at Bristol University, spoke of where he believes the movie industry is going wrong. He used the lecture to criticise the American movie industry for its lack of empathy with ordinary people.

The event attracted a formidable local audience and caught the interest and imagination of the local Bristol media. Extensive coverage of the lecture was received from the Bristol broadcast and print media, including an interview with Mrs. Grant on BBC Radio Bristol. An HTV reporter and camera crew were present on the day, to film the afternoon's events for the six o'clock news that evening.

Such was the success of the lecture it is thought it will become an annual event, giving Bristol the opportunity to celebrate its links with the late Hollywood star.
